“Calling clients on the phone!”
Let’s face it — most photographers would rather organise their Lightroom catalogue than make a phone call.
But here’s the thing: this isn’t a cold call.
By the time you’re calling, they’ve: Requested your pricing
Watched your welcome video
Received a series of emails introducing your services
Seen your testimonials and product previews
They already like you. They’re interested. They’re waiting for your call.
Today is all about reframing your mindset around the first phone call.
It’s not about hard-selling — it’s about building a genuine connection, answering questions, and guiding them toward the next step.
Your goal on the call: Build trust and rapport.
Answer their top 1–2 questions
Guide them clearly to the booking process
Create confidence in your process
This phone call is a key moment in the client journey — and it’s one of the easiest ways to increase bookings and reduce ghosting.
Clients want to know they’re in good hands.
You’re not calling to pressure them — you’re calling to reassure them that you’re the right person to capture what matters most.
ACTION STEP:
Write or refine your first phone call script
Include these elements:
- A warm, friendly greeting
- A brief recap of what they’ve seen so far (video, info, emails)
- A couple of discovery questions (e.g. “What are you hoping to capture?”, “Have you had professional photos before?”)
- A confident outline of the process
- Invite to book the planning session or shoot date
BONUS: Practise it with a friend or fellow photographer in the group! Record it if you need to hear your own flow.
Remember:
It’s not about saying everything perfectly. It’s about being present, real, and helpful.
Because sometimes, the simplest thing you can do to stand out…
is actually pick up the phone.
