We’re looking forward to seeing you at [session time] on [session day.] Do you have 2 minutes for a quick chat? I wanted to make sure you’re ready to go and everyone’s on the same page.

Do you have any questions regarding your session? Do you need any help with what to bring, how to get here and where to park? What are you thinking of bringing with you? [Edit questions to suit.]

[Add if you need to] Also, just to remind you, you’re now within the [number of days] notice period and we won’t be able to cancel at this point [without X, Y, Z conditions – if any.]

  • Be cool, calm and collected before the clients arrive (never rushed or hurried)
  • Product placement
  • The client picks up with the current client’s age and stage.

If you’re shooting on location, the key points would be to:

  • Check-in advance if there are no events or closures in your favourite public area locations
  • Arrive early
  • Know the lighting conditions expected throughout the shooting time
  • Know what the weather is doing (and likely to do)
  • Make sure you and your car are easy to find / identify
  • Walk around the area to make sure it’s safe and clean

Before you take a photo

  • Explain the experience with family members
  • Ask them if they have any ideas
  • Go through the pre-shoot questionnaire
  • Smile and introduce yourself. Make sure you spend time to ‘warm’ everyone up and figure out who is shy and who isn’t. Who needs extra TLC.
  • Go through what they have bought with them to be photographed with-in
  • I ask them to show me around their home before I get my gear. It gets them talking and relaxed. I move slowly and calmly so they can pick up my vibe and chill / not stress

During the session

  • “OMG that one was awesome, there’s your 30×20 canvas !!”
  • “Oh this is gorgeous, you are going to love this shot!”
  • “You’re going to love these. You’re doing an awesome job.”
  • “Wow this one is going to look amazing above your couch”
  • My clients usually see them on the back of the camera as it’s being shot, so they get excited when seeing them
  • Show the back of the camera yes or no
  • Are we shooting for the album today?

After the session

  • That was awesome!
  • Post session walkthrough

Purchasing appointment

  • Superimpose their images into their room views
  • Music
  • Product credit
  • tell them the other ones they love for desktop prints or albums/box or digital
